Full court, competitive squash and racketball is back from Monday 17th May...

Hi [[firstname]],

I am pleased to be able to tell you that the UK Government announced that we will move to Step 3 of the COVID-19 Response – Spring ‘21 Roadmap on Monday 17 May. We have now received confirmation from Sport England that squash clubs and venues can reintroduce full court squash for adults and juniors from Monday.

Players can get on court with multiple households and play full court squash e.g. best of five with tie-breaks, and singles and doubles (squash bubbles and modified versions not required). The maximum number of players on court allowed are 4 adults or children.

Coach-led sessions can take place in any number (within the maximum venue capacity limit) but the maximum number of players on court allowed is 4 adults or 6 children. Coaches are allowed on court and are not included in the total number of players on court.

Spectators are allowed to return, but must observe maximum of six people or two households as well as social distancing rules and wear face coverings.

Whilst we are allowed to return to full squash, we all must continue to observe current UK Government restrictions for the health and safety of players, spectators and the workforce.

This is obviously very good news and as a consequence...

We will be restarting the mini leagues (John Seale will be sending out an email with more details shortly).

Ian Taylor will be re-starting group coaching. Contact Ian at itaylor84@me.com to be booked into one of the sessions:

Ladies - Tuesday 7.30pm-8.45pm (foc for first 3 weeks)

Junior - Saturday morning 9.00am-10.15am (first session is foc, £5 per session there after)

Mixed adult 2x groups - Saturday morning 10.15am-11.30am and 11.30am-12.45pm.

Ian will still be running 1-2-1 sessions throughout the week for those interested in those as well, £60 for 4x 40minute sessions.

More good news is that the courts are all in good condition - Ian Morrison, Paul Barnet and others have been taking care of them over lockdown, and unlike some clubs who have found their floors are warped and their walls are damp, our courts have faired very well.

If you attend the courts you will see that there is a new carpet in the viewing area upstairs, which together with the recent refurbishments to the changing rooms and plans to switch to LED lighting on court, means that we continue to provide a high standard environment in which to enjoy the games.

I have also been asked to remind you: Please don't wear outside shoes on court - or wear your court trainers outside before you arrive so that we can keep the courts clean and safe. The dust and dirt brought from outside on shoes make the courts more slippery so it is a health and safety issue as well as a cleaning problem.

We will send out further updates as and when we have more information, but I look forward to seeing you all back on court.

best regards

David Tongeman
Chairman - Beverley Squash and Racketball Club
