Squash Bubbles, Changing Rooms and Subs

Hello [[firstname]],

There are three topics to cover in this email:
1. Squash Bubbles
2. Limited changing room re-opening.
3. 2020/21 Membership fees

1. Squash Bubbles
England Squash have announced that competitive matches (slightly altered) will be permissible by players playing in a squash bubble.

The full rules are as follows:

From Tuesday 1 September squash clubs and venues in England are able to move to Phase 2 in our return to play plan, allowing players to form ‘squash bubbles’ and play full-court squash, although modifications and additional hygiene measures will be required. What is a squash bubble?

  • A bubble consists of a maximum of six players.
  • Players can only be part of one bubble at a time.

Players within the bubble can play full-court matches but with the following modifications and hygiene measures;

  • Only two players on court at one time.
  • Play best of three games.
  • Play first to 11 points, sudden-death at 10-all.
  • Use ‘Sides’ as a way to maintain social distancing throughout the warm-up.
  • During each game, when the first player reaches six points, both players should wipe away excessive sweat, sanitise their hands and the ball. Repeat between games.
  • The same player to serve / touch the ball during each half of a game, and at the halfway point, switch servers.
  • Protective eyewear or visors are strongly recommended at all times.
  • Players must not wipe their hands on the court walls.
  • Players are not allowed to shout or raise their voice.
  • The club/venue must maintain all current processes around social distancing and the maximum number of people allowed in your club at any one time, as well as your already enhanced hygiene and cleaning processes.

If you would like to play as a part of a bubble, please email John Seale with the names of the six players in your bubble. If you would like to be allocated a bubble of players to play with, again contact John Seale and he will aim to put you in a suitable bubble. John Seale's email address is: sealej2@hotmail.com

2. Limited Changing room re-opening
Several members who have to travel quite a distance to play have asked if the changing rooms can be used for showering after games. The committee have agreed to a limited re-opening of the changing rooms for members who otherwise have a distance to travel before being able to shower and change.

  • Only for use AFTER playing. Please continue to turn up changed and ready to play.
  • 1 person to use at a time. If both players wish to shower then use both changing rooms.
  • Shower taps, light switches, door handles and benches to be wiped after use please. Cleaning materials wil be provided.
  • If possible please continue to shower and change at home.

3. Membership Fees for Oct 2020 - September 2021 have been reduced to £20.

As a recognition of the reduced facilities during Covid, the 2020/2021 Season membership fees will be £20 for adults and £5 for juniors. You can pay online via the website using the paypal form on this page:
